on not being lazy.

Today I worked out for the first time since before our wedding. Which was in November. I had such great motivation for so long that I didn't quite know what to do once I lost it, so I just stopped.

I lost about ten pounds for the wedding, and I've since gained it all back. I'm amazed I haven't gained more. It's been a fun life, eating and drinking whatever I please, plopping down on the couch whenever I get home. But it has to stop.

Something I realized when I was losing the weight is that it's really not that hard not to overindulge, to move around a bit every now and then. It actually feels pretty good. Better, in fact, than the opposite.

So here's to Jillian Michael's yoga workout DVD, running with my dog, walking the bridge, and riding my bike. I hope I'll be seeing a lot more of all of these things.

How do you stay motivated?

  1. I have a picture of me from about 5 years ago. I need to blow it up and keep it where I can see it (like on the fridge). I know I'd stay motivated then!

  2. I used to HATE running, but I got a running partner, and started a regular schedule. I also got a different friend to be my weight lifting class partner. If one of us has to cancel in any of these, we voice discontent. I also bring my dog on every run outside, and make the exercising more about him than about me. It's easier that way to focus on something else. The friend part really works out, because we don't want to disappoint each other!

  3. I know I should try the buddy system, but I think I'm kind of a loner when it comes to working out. I don't like other people seeing me grunt and sweat. Which is why I avoid gyms too.

But I'm so proud of you for running that 10K! You're awesome!
