Finkelstein's Center's awkwardly adorable creatures

Is it weird for an adult to want to buy stuffed animals? Not if they're as cute as Michelle Jewell's "Finks." I recently interviewed the artist for Charleston magazine. My favorite quote:

"No one questions the amount of stuffed sloths you own when you’re a toy maker. If I quit, I would just be weird again."

I've yet to be bitten by the baby bug (knock on wood), and I think it's because I have so many nieces and nephews to give me my fix. Shopping for presents for them is so much more fun than for anyone else, and Etsy is just full of cute little gift ideas.

What was your favorite Christmas gift when you were little? Mine was probably a microscope (nerd alert!) and the big dollhouse my parents made me.

Speaking of kids, how cute are these ones? That's me and my sister in 1990ish. The funny thing is, I recently thrifted a little brass rocking horse identical to the one on that shelf and it's sitting on my TV table right now.

little thoughts.

I'm currently listening to my nephews whisper very loudly in their room, pretending to nap. We're watching them for the next few days while their parents are in St. Maarten, and as much as I love watching the kids, it always reminds me that I've got awhile to go before I'm ready to start making babies.

You see, I really like sleeping until noon if the mood strikes me. I like going out to eat at fancy restaurants and happy hours that turn into happy nights. I like spending days shopping without kids pulling me in every direction. I guess I'm still a little bit too selfish, but I look forward to the day when I'm not.

That said, these kids rooms are pretty darn cute.
